Sent tokens to wrong chain on Trust Wallet can you recover them

The short answer is: sometimes. Recovery depends entirely on which chain you sent to, which chain you meant to send to, and whether you still control the private keys for the address on the destination chain. No single recovery method works for every mistake.

Why the same address works across different chains

Ethereum and its clones - BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Avalanche C‑chain, Fantom, Arbitrum, Optimism - all use the same address format. A wallet like Trust Wallet generates one set of keys, and that single address is valid on every EVM‑compatible network. You can paste the same address into each chain’s field and the transaction will go through.

This is where the trap is. The address looks identical. The transaction confirms. But the tokens are now stranded on a chain your wallet is not looking at.

How to check what actually happened

Open the transaction in Trust Wallet’s history. Copy the transaction hash. Go to the block explorer for the chain the transaction actually executed on. If you sent via BNB Smart Chain, use BscScan. If you sent via Polygon, use Polygonscan. Paste the hash.

The explorer will show the receiving address and the token contract. If that address is yours and you control its private key inside Trust Wallet, you have a path forward. If the address on the destination chain is not yours - because you sent to an exchange deposit address on the wrong network - recovery is far less likely.

What you can try

If you sent to your own address on a different EVM chain

You can manually add the destination network to Trust Wallet. Open the app, tap the network selector (top left), and turn on the chain you sent to. The same address will now show the tokens. You can then send them back to the correct chain through a bridge or a centralized exchange.

Odds: High if you know which chain. The tokens are not lost - you just need to switch the wallet’s view.

If you sent to an exchange deposit address on a wrong chain

This is more common and more painful. Most exchanges give you one deposit address per asset per network. If you send USDT to an Ethereum address but you were on BNB Smart Chain, the exchange will not credit your account automatically.

Some exchanges run recovery services. Binance, Kraken, and others have forms for this. They may charge a fee or take weeks. Not all exchanges help. Many simply say it is not their problem.

Odds: Low to moderate, depending on the exchange. No guarantee.

If you sent to a contract address on the wrong chain

Sometimes a token is deposited into a contract that has no withdrawal function. This is rare but final. If the recipient address on the destination chain is a contract that cannot forward tokens, the funds are frozen.

Odds: Near zero.

The critical decision point - before you send

Every deposit requires two choices: the token and the network. Trust Wallet shows a network selector before you confirm. That choice determines which chain your tokens will actually land on.

If you are withdrawing from a centralized exchange, the exchange also asks you to choose a network. If the exchange shows “BNB Smart Chain” and you select “Ethereum,” the withdrawal will fail or vanish. Always confirm the network label matches the one you selected in Trust Wallet.

Check the chain. Check the recipient. If the recipient is your own address, add that network to Trust Wallet. If the recipient is an exchange deposit address, open a support ticket with the exchange and provide the transaction hash and the chain it was sent on.

Do not send anything else until you confirm what happened. Sending more tokens to the same wrong network will only compound the problem.
